The Almeria region of Andalucia is vast and contrasting with 100´s of kilometres of stunning coastline sitting alongside Europes largest desert . Inland Almeria is also home to some of the most productive agricultural land with mile upon mile of citrus, olive and almond groves.
Still relatively untouched by mass tourism and retaining traditional Spanish customs and culture the area is perfect for those looking for ¨the real Spain¨. Whitewashed villages nestle in the hillsides surrounded by citrus groves with small working towns offering everyday facilities such as Albox, Huercal Overa, Olula del Rio and many more.
Villages such as Arboleas, Zurgena, La Alfoquia etc have become increasingly popular with foreign buyers over the last 15 years, British, Belgian, Dutch, French etc, looking for their dream homes. This area, known as the Almanzora Valley, is located one hour north of Almeria city and the airport and flights to and from the new Murcia International and Alicante airports are also easily accessible via excellent motorway connections. The low cost of living and glorious climate make this the perfect destination for an all year round holiday bolt hole or a permanent residence with a relaxed lifestyle. With beautiful beaches 25 to 35 minutes drive away, top class golf courses, Valle del Este, Desert Springs, Aguillon and the Sierra Nevada ski resort an hour and a half away there really is something for everyone.
